Sunday @ Mauerpark!

Today was awesome. Can't really explain what I felt. We sold some stuff at the Flew Market called "Mauerpark" and we got around 200€. We'll donate this amount of money to a school project in Haiti, and for sure, we'll do it again next sunday, even if we've got a huge hangover and we get burnt, like today! :)

Then, I have gone to play basketball as every tuesday and sunday, and it was the best thing to end up the day, although I was sunburnt and it hurt a little bit! :)

RAUM-18 - Ziegrastr.18
Great surprise. "Panoramic views over Berlin are a hard thing to come by in our vertically challenged city, but this relative newcomer to the scene challenges that notion.Lodged in an industrial estate in the depths of Neukölln, Raum 18’s multi-room space—spread across an entire floor—has a sweeping view over the trash yards and hotel blocks of one of the bleakest areas of the city. "

"It’s a notoriously hard club to find. Tell tale signs that you’re on the right track are the few wandering skinny jeaned minstrels searching hopelessly around the yards and alleys of the estate, and the sound of the windows and facade of this particular building oscillating under the intensity of the sounds emanating from within. "

Yeah, actually it was quite hard to find, thanks we had a great guide, Lisa! The mixture of people, music and different spaces + great location makes this place special.Video: Raum-18 Web: http://raum18-berlin.com/

Der Sommer kommt endlich!!

Urbanhafen, Kreuzberg
Yesterday, after work, I went to have lunch with my roomate Lissi to the canal that is just next to our place. We had a beautiful weather, a little bit windy but still really nice! I had some asiatic food and I taught Lissi some spanish words.
Turkischer Markt, dienstag u. freitag am Maybach Ufer, Kreuzberg

Then, we decided to go to the Turkish Market. Which is also around the corner. At first is quite stressing but you get used to it in a few minutes. You can find wherever you're looking for, but it's mostly specialised in fruits and vegetables.

We bought ten mangos for 2€ euros, two pineapples for 1€, one kilo tomatoes for 0.99€, strawberries... it's completely crazy! Then we went to Netto to buy some vanilla ice-cream to mix it with the fruits we had bought!
This is Lissi. She is at the Admiralbrücke which has became in the last years in one of the coolest places to chill ot, have some beers & pizza, play any instrument or play chess!!  http://www.spottedbylocals.com/berlin/admiralsbruecke

Kreuzberg, by Bloc Party

There is a wall that runs right through me
Just like the city, I will never be joined -
What is this love? Why can I never hold it?
Did it really run out in the strangers' bedrooms?
I have decided - At twenty-five - Something must change

Saturday night in East Berlin
We took the U-Bahn to the East Side Gallery

I was sure I'd found love with this one lying with me
Crying again in the old Bahnhof

I have decided - At twenty-five - That something must change

After sex, the bitter taste
Been fooled again, the search continues
Concerned mothers of the west - Teach your sons how to truly love

Madame Clade, Lübbener Str.19-Kreuzberg

MUSIC. Yeah, it has being a great night. I went to this bar called "MADAME CLAUDE". The entrance already surprised me, with this vintage furniture and a pale light.

One of the first things you notice in the bar is that everything seems to be UPSIDE DOWN!!! furniture, lamps, posters, really cool!! :)

Well, but the best part of this is that they had organised a Music Quiz for tonight. Rules were quite simple: the DJ would play different songs and we had to guess either the name of the band or the song itself but SHOUTING!! because obviously this was a competition, so the first who shouted would get a point!

So, you can actually imagine this bunch of proffesionals who could guess a song from Jonny Cash, Blur, Simon and Garfunkel, Prince, REM, Bonny Tyler or Hot Chip just in the first beat of the song!

Actually it has being quite depressing and frustating, because whenever my brain was assimilating a song, the song had already been shouted!  - http://www.myspace.com/madame_claude -

Kreuzberg, mein Viertel!

Endlich Berlin!

So much time whishing to move somewhere else. So much time hoping to be invisible in a huge city. So much time loving the idea of dissapearing from the world. Just a week in Berlin and I've realised why is this city so special for so many people. I will just try to explain you all I discover about the city, little by little, as well as my fears, experiences and feelings. Hope you like it, and I hope that u all still remember me, even if we are far away.
