Rainy sunday in Berlin

4The first place we saw was Schneiders Schokolade, in Acklerstr. With simple decoration and a special taste, it was the perfect stop to have a Schokolade & Kuchen. The cakes looked delicious (of course we tried them!) and if you're chocolate-addicts like me, you'll enjoy having a look to all the chocolate types and pralines they've got in the shop, even Catalan chocolate!!

Then we decided to go to the Flewmarket in Arkonaplatz
It was raining but we started playing the Question-Game (I know some of you will know it) and it was quite fun. I bought a couple of clips and we went to have a walk to Mauerpark.

After Arkoplatz we went to a young-designer-Showroom called The Apparment in Mitte.
The Appartment Berlin

To end up the day, Jimmy Woo

...we took the metro to go back to Kreuzberg and ended up having dinner at Jimmy Woo in Friedelstrasse 24. Really nice surprise. Little cosy bar-restaurant with delicious indo/French cuisine typical from Laos and Vietnam for instance. Tasty and spicy, a really good option.

The atmosphere is really comfortable with nice music and the decoration really interesting.

After the dinner, and having the feeling that had being a great day, I head up to Kreuzberg and went to Regis & Josh place. We sat on the sofa, we talked for a while, took my pictures and went back home.
Amazing day. I want more rainy sundays!

Berlin Festival 2010

I was really looking forward to the Festival but it ended up being a little disappointing. Although this year’s new location was quite attractive, the former airport from Tempelhof, organization wasn’t really carried out in an efficient way. They sold around 20.000 tickets when in some of the hangars just around 5000 people could fit in. And yeah, the Love Parade Ghost was appearing in Tempelhof.
Consequences: 2manyDJs, Fatboy Slim and TONS of other groups cancelled. The festival ending at 23pm instead of 7am.
On Friday, we saw Adam Green, LCD Soundsystem and Editors. No time to see Fever Ray, which was really a pity. After Editors, we tried to see Caribou (performing just for half an hour) but the access to the stages was closed due to the amount of people waiting.

For 2 am, everything was pretty much over.
On Saturday, we saw Lali Puna, great music, but I was expecting a little bit more live. The big surprise was actually Chilly Gonzalez (thanks to Steve!). I had pretty much no idea about his music and I had a great time in the concert. I have to definitely check his last work, I AM EUROPE, produced by Boysnoize Records. By the way, the guy from Boysnoize came twice into the stage and they performed a couple of songs combining piano, electro and rap. Awesome!!

After that time for Boysnoize, Peaches (Lasershow) and Hot Chip.

As always, and after seeing them 4 times live, I still think Editors where the best of this Festival, and thanks god they didn’t cancel it! ^_^

Johann Rose, Fostersstr. Xberg

Located in Fosterstr. (U-Bahn Gorlitzer Bahnhof), first thing you notice when you walk into Johann Rose in the heart of Kreuzberg is the beautiful and warm atmospehere.

It is very comfortable and and it has very inviting furniture, you just want to stay here all day and night. That along with the friendy staff make this a great cafe to visit.

The other great thing about this place is that it is a cafe by day and really cool bar/lounge at night. The clientele are a mix of cool locals and people in the know.

Night in Teufelsberg!

Without any doubt one of the best experiences in Berlin. Yeah, one of the best so far.

I slept in Teufelsberg, literally, Devil's Mountain, Berlin’s highest mountain (115 meters), created from the rubble of bombed-out Berlin after the Second World War.

At the top, there is a huge tower and two white domes of the former American radar facilities, with which NATO sought to listen in on East Germany. Its necessaray to climb a fence (there are some hole, though!), but it's really worth it.

When we reached the top (a lantern will turn out to be really useful!), we saw that we were not the only ones. There was a bunch of people enjoying the sunset, which was a-ma-zing by the way and having some drinks.

It's a great place to take pictures. And along the night you'll feel different types of feeling and sensations: silent, loneliness, sound of the wind, or storm, fear, but above all, lots of peace.

Something you just need to get out of this huge city and fell the city just above you.

Well we had dinner up there and then strawberries with cream and some wine. Perfect. Good morning Berlin!

Gallery, drink, and rain

Abandoned Ship @ Planufer, Xberg

The other day I finally found someone to enter one of the abandoned ship located at Planufer, just in front of the Vivantes Klinikum, in Kreuzberg. The first step is to climb the little fence that access the ship, but watch out if you don't wanna fall to the Spree!

Once in, the first thing you'll realize is a bunch of people thought about that place to party, or even to sleep. The is nothing particular inside, it isn't particularly clean but there is something magical on it...

...the views from the dock at dawn are just incredible. If you are a photography freak, don't miss the chance to take some shoots! And enjoy!
