Festival, festival, festival! :)
This weekend we went to the Down by the River Festival, which was taking place in Bar 25. The place is amazing, it's located at the riverside, it has several bars, a restaurant,  and even a circus! so, you can watch a movie, listen to a great live concert, have a nice dinner, see a piece of theater, circus, or just enjoy a drink!

Musashi, Sushi in Kreuzberg

As a total Sushi amateur I could dare to say that Musashi is one of the best sushi places in town. Little imbiss in Kotbusser Damm, really little and usually packed. It may not seem the best option from outside to enjoy a nice meal. Once you're in, you'll think in a complete different way.  That's the real Japan.
Musashi only plays music from a cassette player, but its sushi chefs hail from the native country and clearly have full command over their cuisine. Have a look at the decoration:  pictures for beginners with the different types of sushi an sumo posters everywhere. I can´t really say it´s cheap (Its not overpriced either)  but the quality is simply, unbeatable.

Berlinische Galerie

Saturday morning, time to get active. After making a little excursion to Pankow with Ignacio to give away flyers of the veggie dinner, I'm meeting Steven in the Admiralbrücke. The plan is to go to the Berlinische Galerie and then take some shoots with our cameras somewhere around the city. It's nice getting in touch again and doing stuff together.

The current exhibition at the Berlinische Galerie  is Nan Goldin, american photographer born in a jewish family in D.C and grown up in Boston. Some of her topics, gay and transexual scene, hard-drug subculture, sex and nudity have also provocked criticism among the public. One of her most famous work is The Ballad of Sexual Dependency, which depict drug use, violent, aggressive couples and autobiographical moments.

She currently lives between Berlin, Paris and Yale, where she works as a teacher.

Some critics have accused her of making heroin-use appear glamorous, and of pioneering a grunge style that later became popularized by youth fashion magazines.

Peter Lindbergh, C/O Berlin

P E T E R     L I N D B E R G H

„What's so striking about black and white photography is how it really helps a sense of reality to come through.“ – Peter Lindbergh

And here it is. Peter Lindbergh.

Here some pictures taken with the mobile phone, not good but not too bad either.

Fred Herzog, C/O berlin

Great surprise must admit. Never had heard the name of this photographer before. FRED HERZOG. Born in Stuttgart, he then moved shorty to Toronto, and then to Vancouver where he developed his career during 1950s and 60s.

He mostly used colour revesal film (Kodachome) to capture his works. This limited himself due to the existing popularity in Black and White technique at that time. He decided to capture the streets, gas stations and shops from Vancouver so that afterwards people could see what the city was like in the 60s. But what he loved was capturing people, mostly working class, in its environment and daily life. And in the streets of Vancouver.

His works are full of colour, power and authenticity.

Have a look at his portfolio at the Equinox Gallery in Vancouver:

Rainy sunday in Berlin

4The first place we saw was Schneiders Schokolade, in Acklerstr. With simple decoration and a special taste, it was the perfect stop to have a Schokolade & Kuchen. The cakes looked delicious (of course we tried them!) and if you're chocolate-addicts like me, you'll enjoy having a look to all the chocolate types and pralines they've got in the shop, even Catalan chocolate!!

Then we decided to go to the Flewmarket in Arkonaplatz
It was raining but we started playing the Question-Game (I know some of you will know it) and it was quite fun. I bought a couple of clips and we went to have a walk to Mauerpark.

After Arkoplatz we went to a young-designer-Showroom called The Apparment in Mitte.

To end up the day, Jimmy Woo

...we took the metro to go back to Kreuzberg and ended up having dinner at Jimmy Woo in Friedelstrasse 24. Really nice surprise. Little cosy bar-restaurant with delicious indo/French cuisine typical from Laos and Vietnam for instance. Tasty and spicy, a really good option.

The atmosphere is really comfortable with nice music and the decoration really interesting.

After the dinner, and having the feeling that had being a great day, I head up to Kreuzberg and went to Regis & Josh place. We sat on the sofa, we talked for a while, took my pictures and went back home.
Amazing day. I want more rainy sundays!
